Retaining Solutions was recently engaged by CD Excavations to design and construct a gabion wall structure at Altitude, Terranora. The project involved 400m2 of gabion walls on a twin culvert road crossing. The walls were designed and installed both upstream and downstream to provide protection to the culverts head and wing walls.

We partnered with Protest Engineering for the design on this project. The design called for a geogrid reinforced earth wall with select backfill material using a rock filled gabion facade. The select fill was imported, stockpiled and supplied to the work areas by the client making for a very smooth installation process.

The project provided it’s challenges with a number of weather events stalling the progress of the job, although the challenges, our crews successfully completed the project ending with a very satisfied client.
